語源
「recital」はラテン語の「recitāre」に由来します。接頭辞「re-」は「再び」を、語幹「citāre」（'citare'に由来）は「呼び出す・動かす」を意味し、「recitāre」は「声に出して読む、朗読する」を意味しました。
「recitāre」は古フランス語の「réciter」関連の語形を経て、後のフランス語「récital」となり、英語はフランス語から「recital」を借用しました。用法は拡大し、音楽の演奏や文書の前文などの意味も持つようになりました。
