語源
「hypertonic」はニューラテン語の「hypertonicus」に由来し、最終的にはギリシャ語の要素「hyper-（過度・超）」と「tonos（張力・伸張）」から来ている。
「hypertonic」はニューラテン語の医学用語「hypertonicus」から変化し、19世紀に英語の医学用語として採用された。
