語源
「fissility」はラテン語に由来し、特に後期ラテン語・新ラテン語の形容詞「fissilis」からで、これはラテン語動詞「findere」（割る）の過去分詞「fissus」に由来します。
「fissilis」は（後期）ラテン語で「割れやすい」を意味し、中世・新ラテン語の『fissilitas』のような語形を経て、19世紀に学術用語として英語の形容詞fissileや名詞fissilityになりました。
