語源
「reorder」は接頭辞「re-」(ラテン語の「再び」を意味する)と、最終的にはラテン語の「ordo」から来た「order」の結合から生じた。
「order」は古フランス語の「ordre」や中英語の「ordre」を経て英語に入り、現代英語では接頭辞「re-」を付けて「reorder」が作られ、『再び行う』の意味を表すようになった。
当初「order」は「配列・順序」を意味していたが、複合語「reorder」は現代では「再び並べる」や「再注文する」という意味を持つようになった。
